Torstein Horgmo Beats Shaun White at Mt Snow Dew Tour
Torstein Horgmo edged out Shaun White at the Mount Snow Dew Tour Slopestyle the other day, sticking a run that would have only been fantasy just a few years ago. Torstien's run included a frontside blut back 270 out on the first feature, back 9 on the first hit, switch back 7 on the 2nd hit, and a switch back 1260 on the final jump. Check out the video highlights on the
twsnow site. A while back standard films posted a run with Torstien through the Northstar park and it's probably the longest and sickest park run every captured on video. Hopefully DC will give Torstien a pro model in 2009. Speaking of DC, we found some good deals on their 2009 snowboards, already 20% off in some cases. (Posted: 01-12-09)
Pow For Everyone This Holiday Season
Resorts all over the US are getting dumped on and aside from lift lines, holiday shredding should be sweet in place like Utah, Lake Tahoe and Colorado. This is the
best powder cam mosaic ever.
Liftopia might come in handy for
finding cheap lift tickets this holiday season. While most resorts have a wide range of black out
dates this time or year, there are a few gems out there to be had. You can even search by state
or region. My recommendations for riding this holiday would be
Snowbasin or
Brighton in Utah. Both resorts have had
well over 100 inches of snow this season and are expecting up to two feet of
"The Greatest Snow on Earth" tomorrow, 12/23/08. Lake Tahoe resorts have received good
snow of recent, if you're looking to beat high ticket prices in favor of less vertical, check
our Boreal, right off I-80 just west
of Truckee. They're touting a 40 inch base as well.
Vail and other
Colorado resorts are doing a bit better as of recent. Resorts on or west of the continental
divide have seen more than 100in of snow this year. If you're going to Vail, make sure not
to bring your Burton Love. Due to the nice cold snap North America has seen recently, even midwest and east coast resorts are open with decent snow depths. (Posted: 12-22-08)
The Mother Of All Outerwear Deals
MooseJaw has a coupon good for "clothing only" and snowboarding outerwear seems to fall under clothing. I like how that works out. I tested the coupon on a 2009 Burton Jacket and
a 2009 Patagonia Jacket and the discount worked. The MooseJaw coupon code is 116
and it expires on 12/14/08. The discounts are as follows and apply to item prices, not total order price:
10% Off $1-$100, 20% Off $100-$249, 30% Off $250-$400 and 40% Off $400 .
There's a chance MooseJaw may exclude outerwear from this coupon
in the not so distant future. If the discount is still working when you read this,
it could be your only chance to save up to 40% off Burton AK Jackets and similar
high end products you usually can't find on sale. This is the real deal, get at it while you can.
See
this page for all of the snowboarding outerwear available at MooseJaw descending by price or check out the brands MooseJaw carries that are not usually discounted; 686,
Analog,
Arcteryx,
Bonfire,
Burton,
FourSqaure,
Mountain Hardware,
Quiksilver,
Special Blend,
Volcom. (Posted: 12-09-08)
Free Lib Tech BTX Snowboard Giveaway at TWSnow
Transworld Snowboarding and Lib Tech Snowboards have teamed up to create a snowboard giveaway of generous and ridiculous proportions. Between now and January 9th, 2009, they will be giving away one Lib Tech BTX "comment board" per week. Whats a comment board, right? Well, here's how it works. Upload a photo to your TWSnow account and tag the photo "comment board". Then get your friends and anyone else to "prop it" and if your picture gets the most props during that week, you win the board. The kicker is, the graphics on this Lib Tech Banana Traction Snowboard will be the comments your friends and other users leave for your photo. Will Charles Webster Baer's Global Internet Government finally be immortalized on a snowboard? Hopefully not. Check out this link to view the current entries. (Posted: 12-04-08)
